About the Event
Come join us for an introduction to backcountry course. Â We will introduce how avanlanche safety equimpent is used, fit and use of your choice of skis or splitboard and then take a skin up. Â We will be following a 1.5 mile "backcountry" route climbing 600ft through the woods on a dedicated uphill track to the top of a green rated groomed run back down. Â Don't worry about having any gear, we got you! Â We will provide your choces of: backpack, transciever, shovel, probe, boots, skis/board, and poles. Rental splitboarders will need to bring their own boots. Â Rentals are full sets only.
Be sure to come early as parking at Copper is serviced by bus to and from the resort. Â You will need to take the BLUE busÂ
to the CENTER VILLAGE where it will drop you off a short walk from Camp Hale Outfitters. Â Plan to be parked no later than 0830.
Schedule of events:
0900-0930 - meet at the MAMMUT EDUCATION CENTER inside of the Camp Hale Outfitters to sign waivers and distribute gear.
0930-1030 - Go through gear with us familiarizing with use and terminology.
1030-1200 - on trail gear use/instruction.
