Therapeutic wilderness experiences
For VETERANS for FREE
Serving is easy: do what you are told when you are told, to get the job done: always get the job done. Getting hurt is not an option, getting sick is not an option. Get too hurt, and you are pulled out, seen as weak. Once you are out, everything hurts. You no longer know what to do; you make it up as you go...and sometimes...fail.
You are not alone; you are not weak.
Failure happens.
Service teaches you how to put the uniform on; they do not teach you how to take it off.
High Country Veterans Adventures is here for you, we will help you figure out how to life again.
Get off the couch and get outside! We got you!
Need to figure out benefits with the state or VA? We got you!

Land Acknowledgement
As an outdoor guide on these lands—Núu-agha-tʉvʉ-pʉ̱ (Ute) territory—HCVA recognizes our role in both sharing and protecting this place. We commit to teaching others about the deep history and living presence of Ute peoples, whose connection to these mountains and waters spans millennia. Through our website and public conversations, we will amplify stewardship practices that honor this relationship, inviting those we guide to listen, learn, and care for this land beyond footprints.
Pop-up Adventures!!

HCVA teamed up with Higher Ground USA to bring back whitewater rafting this year! Our first trip was a huge success, but don’t worry—there’s still time to join the adventure on our second trip. Spots are limited, so don’t miss out!
Lunch will be included with both trips.
Sign-ups will be handled by Higher Ground though the following links:

WHAT VETERANS SAY
ANTHONY, NAVY VETERAN
Having a community of people to explore with expands the activities I have access to and makes everything easier, safer, and more fun. An adventure community of veterans compounds this because everyone is one the same page, and is willing to do their part.
ZACH, ARMY VETERAN
Coming from a high speed combat environment like Afghanistan, where you're constantly alert and on guard, it an be a challenge to find hobbies and activities stateside that are exciting and that I can enjoy which don't end in blue lights and handcuffs. Fortunately, through great mentors and friends, I have been lucky enough to fill that niche with the wilderness.
ROSS, ARMY VETERAN
I ended up loving rock/ice climbing and whitewater rafting. Since the Army, they were the only things that pushed me to my limits physically and mentally at the same time,
